Joe Biden just named him interim president of the Senate to replace Chuck Grassley, and Patrick Leahy is no stranger to Batman fans. In fact, the 80-year-old senator from Vermont, He has appeared in no less than five Batman movies.
With his recent appointment, Patrick Leahy now occupies the fourth most important place in the United States behind Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Nancy Pelosi, remember . This huge Batman fan appeared in five Gotham superhero movies between 1995 and 2016: Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, The dark knight, The dark knight rises and more recently Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The most striking scene is undoubtedly the one in which he faces the Joker, played by Heath Ledger in The dark knight (2008). The American newspaper reported in 2012 that the senator donated his film fees to the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier, Vermont. It was here that Patrick Leahy became an avid reader of Batman comics as a child.
Regarding his new position, this is not the first time that the Democrat has been named president of the Senate. In fact, he had already presided from 2012 to 2015.
