Pioneer It announced the DMH-WC5700NEX flagship unit, which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This new head unit is interesting, because it has a modular display, and it is very easy to install.
The DMH-WC5700NEX has a 6.8 inch dashboard capacitive touch screen display, with the kit like any other aftermarket head unit. It’s as thick as a CD these days. This allows for easy installation in vehicles without DIN slots for the aftermarket receiver. Chevrolet Camaro, Silverado and GMC Sierra for example.
In this head unit, the main console will connect to the touch screen with a single cable. Which can be well concealed.
DMH-WC5700NEX supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
Since this is part of Pioneer’s NEX lineup, it supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. So no matter which phone you use, you can connect your phone here. It supports both wired and wireless options for both CarPlay and Android Auto. A really nice feature, especially for those looking to use Android Auto wirelessly in 2021.
There’s also Amazon Alexa built-in, along with HD Radio tuning. A flexible, customizable interface is also available.
Users can upgrade the main unit with the additional SirusXM satellite radio tuner and rear camera system.
Pioneer has not yet announced pricing and availability for the DMH-WC5700NEX yet. But expect this to be a bit expensive, and to be available later this year. It will likely happen in the second half of 2021. This is how these things work, when there is no time frame available, it usually takes a few months before they are available.
