The ASUS uses a fanless Chromebox with Intel 10th generation processor options

ASUS has quietly launched its new passive cooling Chromebox. The ASUS Fanless Chromebox features a fanless aluminum design with two large antennas at the back, giving it the look of a Wi-Fi router. The extruded aluminum body has flanged edges at the top, ensuring a ‘consistent thermal performance anywhere’ while enabling a lower noise system. ASUS has a minimal fan noise system with the CN62, too.

The ASUS Fanless Chromebox is powered by either the Intel Celeron 5205U processor (up to 1.9GHz), the 10th Generation Core i3-10110U processor (up to 4.1GHz), or the 10th Generation Core i7-10510U processor (up to 4.9GHz) with integrated UHD graphics . You get up to 16GB of RAM (8GB DDR4 SO-DIMM x 2) and either 32GB or 64GB eMMC storage or 128GB of M.2 SATA SSD storage. Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.

There are two USB Type-A ports, a headphone jack, and a microSD card slot on the front, in addition to the power button. There are two HDMI ports, one USB Type-C port, and three USB Type-A ports on the back side. There’s also a LAN port, DC power input, Kensington lock, RS232 serial port, two antenna holes, reset button slot, and an extended power switch at the back.

Power supply options include 19Vdc, 3.42A, 65W, or 19Vdc, 4.74A, 90W adapter. There is no speaker on this Chromebox. This cloud-friendly mini desktop measures 207 x 148 x 32mm and weighs 1.2kg.

ASUS Fanless Chromebox Features, Price and Availability

Chromebox isn’t as popular as Chromebooks. However, they still find enough perfect use cases. ASUS says the Fanless Chromebox can support up to three 4K displays and comes with built-in Google Play support. The Chromebox clearly runs on Chrome OS and supports “a rich set of Android productivity, networking, and more apps through the power of a small PC.”

The new lockable VESA stand helps the ASUS Fanless Chromebox to securely attach to the back of the monitor for “extended use scenarios”. The company also promises regular software and security updates to protect the system from viruses, malware, and other security issues.

The new ASUS Fanless Chromebox recently appeared on the company’s official website. However, ASUS has not sent out any press release announcing the product. The company has also not disclosed price and availability details for the new Chromebox. Hopefully, the device will be available for purchase soon.
