Tata is in talks to launch moderna Covid-19 vaccine in India

New Delhi: The Economic Times said on Monday that Tata Medical & Diagnostics has begun preliminary discussions with Moderna to partner to launch the Covid-19 vaccine in India.

The report added, citing officials familiar with the matter, that Tata may collaborate with the Indian Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to conduct clinical trials of Moderna’s candidate vaccine in India.

This month, the Indian government gave approval for the emergency use of the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Bharat Biotech International Ltd. and the state-run Indian Council of Medical Research, another licensed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca PLC which is manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.

Moderna did not respond to a Reuters request for comment outside of business hours, while Tata Medical and Diagnostics did not immediately respond.
