Samsung’s next Exynos SoC will use the AMD GPU, which has been in development since 2019
Samsung and AMD have been in a partnership since 2019. This is the first confirmation that we will see an AMD GPU in one of Samsung’s processors. Rumors were pointing to it, and the company had just confirmed it.
Now, just to clarify, AMD Samsung helped develop the Exynos 2100 as well. This chip will power the Galaxy S21 series of smartphones, and it comes with Mali-G78, designed by ARM.
Mainly thanks to this chip, the Exynos 2100 is said to offer 40 percent better graphics performance than the Exynos 990. The thing is, Samsung and AMD have been working on something special since 2019.
Samsung’s Dr Inyup Kang indicated that this graphics processing unit (GPU), long ago developed by the two companies, may reach the next flagship of the SoC from the company. Therefore, it will likely be included in the successor to the Exynos 2100.
This processor may arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3 later this year
