Samsung today announced its flagship Galaxy S21 smartphones, along with Galaxy SmartTags as well. What is a galaxy Smart Tags? Well, those are the Samsung Bluetooth locators.
If you’ve ever heard of tile trackers, or used any of them, you’ll get the general idea. You can attach this tracking tag to some of your belongings, such as a keychain, so that you never lose your keys.
Samsung announced two different Galaxy SmartTags
Now, the thing is, Samsung announced two different SmartTags. The cheaper model is called the “Galaxy SmartTag” and uses Bluetooth technology. On the other hand, the Galaxy SmartTag + app adds Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology.
However, the “Plus” will not be immediately available. You will have to wait a little to get it. Samsung said it will go on sale “later this year,” but we don’t know when exactly.
Not only will these two models differ in the technology they include, but the size as well. The bluetooth module will of course be smaller. The company also plans to sell these trackers in multiple packages, or different packages depending on the technology.
Samsung hasn’t exactly shared a lot of information about Galaxy SmartTags, but what they do share, gives us a general idea of what to expect. Galaxy SmartTag would be perfect for you so that you don’t forget your keys when you go out or something like that, as you will be notified when you go too far (lose your Bluetooth connection).
On the other hand, the Galaxy SmartTag + is a completely different beast. The SmartTag app is not limited to bluetooth range, as it supports ultra wideband technology. Samsung will share more information soon, that’s for sure.
You can get one for free if you buy a Galaxy S21 phone
It is also worth noting that you can get the Galaxy SmartTag for free, even if you decide to get one of the Galaxy S21 smartphones. This offer will run until January 28. Incidentally, the Galaxy SmartTag costs $ 30 on its own.
