Prince Philip has been hospitalized for several days. Buckingham Palace had not specified why, which had fueled rumors about the 99-year-old prince consort’s health. A press release published on Tuesday, February 23, indicates that Queen Elizabeth II’s husband was care to cure an “infection”.
“The Duke of Edinburgh remains in King Edward VII Hospital,” the palace added, adding that Prince Philip “was responding to treatment but should not be released from the hospital for several days.”
Buckingham Palace had so far remained discreet about the causes of this hospitalization, but a source clarified last week that it was not not affected by Covid-19, who had received his first vaccine injection in early January.
According to his youngest son, Prince Edward, Philip is “much better” a week after being admitted. “He can’t wait to get out, that’s the silver lining,” he said on Sky News on Tuesday. “We crossed our fingers.”
