The UK continues its vaccination campaign. Objective : 15 million people in mid-February. And for this, Boris Johnson gives himself the means: opening certain centers 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and appealing to all good will, that of pharmacists, in particular, as here in London.
Everything had to be turned upside down in four days. Ahsan Khan, the manager, transformed an entire side of his pharmacy to be able to participate in the vaccination campaign. “Where the vaccination rooms are, there were shelves of products. We had to remove all that to create a space to respect social distances and transform the pharmacy into a clinic ”., he explains.
Ahsan, on the other hand, uses his own refrigerators, the classic ones, to store the vaccine. Only Oxford / AstraZeneca distributes here. Throughout, 1,200 people get vaccinated at their pharmacy every week. There are three vaccination booths open 12 hours a day.
And it is in one of them that Marjorie and Michael, aged 82 and 80, happily enter: “It was very good, very good. We even chatted with outsiders, our new best friends,” she jokes.
In less than five minutes, both Marjorie and Michael are vaccinated. They leave relieved, but in no rush to go home. They are quite happy that they don’t have to go to one of these great vaccination centers. Even if the pharmacy is 30 minutes from your home by car.
