More than 2,300 COVID-19 has been indicated for not wearing a mask in public places

A total of 2,324 people in Western Province were referred for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing and rapid antigen tests last week due to not wearing a face mask in public.

Police media spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana stated that 121 people were referred for testing yesterday (11) alone.

According to test results so far, 46 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

DIG Rohana said those close to the people identified as infected have been placed in quarantine.

Meanwhile, 2,438 people have been arrested for violating quarantine rules from October 30 until now.
