Harman today announced a few new audio products, including JBL’s new Charge 5 speaker. Portable bluetooth speaker that appears to follow the motto “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.
JBL’s Charge 5 is not significantly different from the Charge 4. It comes with many of the same great features as the model currently available. JBL notes that the Charge 5 has improved audio capabilities.
So this may indicate better overall sound quality than before. It’s also a slightly different look, with the overall design mostly identical to the Charge 4.
JBL’s Charge 5 speaker provides 20 hours of playback
Like the Charge 4, the Charge 5 provides 20 hours of uptime on a single charge. But to be clear, that is it reach to 20 hours of uptime as this may fluctuate depending on the features you are using.
The Charge 5 can double as a power bank, for example. Which means, you can connect your phone or any other mobile devices to it to charge. You can do this while streaming music to the speaker as well.
And all this drain comes from the same internal battery. So if you stream to Charge 5 while charging the phone, it will consume more battery life for your speaker and you likely won’t get 20 hours of playback.
Adjusting the volume, bass, and other audio features may also reduce the 20-hour battery life. So this is something to keep in mind.
Improved sound with PartyBoost and updated devices
With the Charge 5, JBL has also refreshed its speaker hardware. It now uses a racetrack-style driver and separate woofer along with dual JBL bass radiators.
JBL says this helps give the speaker “superb acoustic clarity and deep bass.” It’s also IP67 dust and water resistant, and it comes with new silicone bumpers.
All these design elements must work together to provide users with a durable amplifier that is as good in facing life’s small accidents as it can pump out some decent sounds.
Whether it is for listening to music or you just want a better audio experience for the video that you may watch on your device.
JBL plans to launch the Charge 5 speaker early this spring. Precisely in April. When it is launched it will Retail for $ 179.99, Which is the currently available Charge 4 price if you are buying directly from the JBL website.
The Charge 5 will come in multiple colors, including Black, Blue, Gray, Red, Teal and Squad.
