Of the nearly 160,000 tests taken statewide on Monday, 3.18%, or 5,088 tests positive, according to state data. Hospitalization cases increased from 156 to 2,124, the largest one-day jump since the epidemic peaked in April. It recorded 29 deaths related to the virus on Monday.
Cases continued to increase in the state’s hotspots including Queens, Brooklyn, Rockland and Westchester counties, western New York, Finger Lakes, Central New York, and counties bordering Pennsylvania.
Cuomo urged New Yorkers to follow government Covid-19 rules and regulations. “We all have a role to play – wear a mask, socialize, avoid gatherings large and small, and religiously wash your hands,” said Cuomo.
