Here’s when Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO will get Android 11 with MIUI 12

Xiaomi has a different update policy, unlike other OEMs. Notably, it brings the latest versions of its custom user interface, MIUI, as well as the older Android OS versions.

Moreover, Xiaomi, POCO and Redmi phones that were lucky to pick up the MIUI 12 update have been released in the last 15 months. Therefore, these devices were on top to receive the MIUI 12 update.

Soon, Xiaomi will push the MIUI 12 firmware update for older devices in the coming weeks and months. Xiaomi has added a lot of features to the MIUI 12 update, which is the reason why Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO owners are waiting for MIUI updates more than Android OS updates on their device.

Besides, just to give you a brief idea of the features, MIUI 12 offers improved system-wide dark modes, AI-assisted calling features, Dynamic Always-on Display, new visual design, system animation adjustments, and much-needed privacy fixes.

Apparently, it all started with Mi 10 and Redmi Note 9, as these devices picked up MIUI 12 based on Android 11 in December in India. Later on, it was pushed for global Redmi K30 units and Mi 9 series.
