Google has made it easy for nearly everyone who speaks the language to use their apps and smartphone. Now, Google Maps lets you set the language within the app, which differs from the language found in the device’s settings.
You might realize that once you select a language in the Android settings on your phone, it applies at the system level. Meaning, apps linked to Google will also display the content in the language chosen in the device’s settings.
However, Google has now added a new feature to the Google Maps app. It basically allows you to set a language which can be different from the one chosen within the device settings.
Moreover, it also means that once you choose a language in Google Maps, all menus, controls and other settings within the app will appear in the language the user has chosen.
Changing the Google Maps language inside the app is very easy. All you need to do is click on your profile avatar located in the top-right corner. Then head over to Settings from there.
Under the settings, you will see the “Application language” option below. The currently selected language will be displayed. It appears as the first menu item. Click on the application language, to change the language of Google Maps as per your convenience.
Google is rolling out this new language feature in Google Maps via a server-side update
Google announced the new language feature in its Google Maps for India app last month. The good news is that this feature is now rolling out to users all over the world.
But you don’t need to do anything. Basically, Google rolls out this feature to Google Maps via a server-side update. This means that this new feature will automatically appear in the Google Maps application installed on your phone.
In the The official blog When Google launched this feature for Indian users, Google said, “This will allow anyone to search for places, get directions, navigate and interact with the map in their preferred local language.”
We agree with the above statement and we feel that navigating in your local language feels more comfortable for many users. This is the main goal of this feature.
The Suggested section indicates popular alternative options that you can choose from. In addition, there is an “All” option that displays a list of all the languages that you can select within the Google Maps app.
As noted before 9To5GoogleSpecifically, there are a total of 79 languages that the user can choose from. Once you choose your preferred language, the application will restart to activate the language change and download the language pack in the background.
