If you’re in the market for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, you might want to know that GameStop is planning to restock each of the consoles on its website today. As with most restockings, GameStop says this range is very limited, so obviously we should expect consoles to sell out quickly. Those trying to secure the Nintendo Switch will also want to check out GameStop later today, as these consoles will be back in stock as well.
However, there are a few caveats to go along with this announcement. Firstly, GameStop hasn’t revealed when these consoles will be available, but only says that they will announce when they are posted to its Twitter account. So, if you are trying to disable one of these devices, it’s a good idea to follow the GameStop Twitter account (which you can access by clicking on the tweet included below) and turn on post notifications.
The second caveat is that these consoles will only be available in bundles, which is not surprising for GameStop. We often see the company bundling ordered hardware with additional games and consoles as a way to dissuade vendors and bots from purchasing all available stock, as GameStop’s return policy prevents customers from returning only some portions of the package.
The good news is that GameStop packages are fairly priced for what you get, but the downside of course is that you might be stuck with additional games or consoles that you don’t want or need. Also, the decision to only sell these consoles as packages causes them to be priced out of some budgets, especially when people are looking to buy only the PS5 or Xbox Series X and nothing else.
Anyway, if you don’t mind paying extra for a bundle, today might be a good opportunity to ditch the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, or Nintendo Switch. Monitor Twitter from GameStop to announce the launch of these bundles, and we’ll update you about future restocking of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at other retailers.
