Final Fantasy VII, shortened to FF7 or FFVII at times, is perhaps one of the most iconic games in a franchise that spans decades and generations of consoles. After decades of waiting, fans are starting to get their dream remake, but almost cruelly, they still have to wait again for the subsequent parts of the saga. Meanwhile, Square Enix wants to distract fans with mobile spin-offs, including one that could be considered “spoilers” for the entire game.
Final Fantasy VII is already available on mobile but it is a direct port to the original PlayStation version of the game. Given the size of Remake, it is likely that mobile gamers will not see it ported to smartphones, but at least they will be able to garnish some of the knowledge surrounding it. Better yet, the two FF7 mobile games have announced that they cater to two types of players.
On the other hand, you have FINAL FANTASY VII THE FIRST SOLDIER (yes, in all hats) a battle royale dressed up as Final Fantasy VII. You put on the boots of a Soldier candidate, at least before Shinra smears his name, and she’s getting some weapons and materials like, well, a soldier in training.
Perhaps most interesting is the chapter-styled FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS (which is also all the caps) which is supposed to cover the entire FF7 schedule. This means events from Final Fantasy VII, Advent Children, Crisis Core, Before Crisis, and even Dirge of Cerberus. There will also be all-new content created by REMAKE writer Kazushige Nojima that goes back in time to the founding of SOLDIER.
Beside of These brief descriptionsHowever, details about these upcoming mobile games are very scarce. FINAL FANTASY VII The first soldier will arrive later this year, while those looking for FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS will have to wait until some time in 2022. Both will be available for free on Android and iOS with your usual service for in-app purchases.
