European Union countries are considering suing AstraZeneca for breach of contract

Latvia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgar Rinkeficks, told local radio Tuesday morning that European Union member states are considering suing AstraZeneca for breaching supply contracts if the company does not respect the Covid-19 vaccine delivery schedule.

The Latvian news site Delphi reported that the minister told the radio that European Union countries would only file a case as “coordinated action”.

Each EU member state has a separate supply contract with the company.

AstraZeneca, which has developed its group with the University of Oxford, told the European Union on Friday that it could not meet its agreed supply targets until the end of March.
