Court documents state that a gunman from Colorado who went to the capital about riots in the U.S. Capitol sought to kill Nancy Pelosi – The Colorado Sun

Federal prosecutors allege that a Colorado man drove his car to Washington, DC last week amid riots in the Capitol building, armed with an arsenal of weapons and ammunition, and was intending to kill House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The agents obtained Meredith’s approval to search the room, as well as his truck, trailer and phone. They found a Glock 19, a 9mm pistol, a Tavor X95 assault rifle and “over 2,500 rounds of ammunition” including armor-piercing rounds. The FBI captured the propaganda clip for further research.

Officers also discovered a “suspected THC box of food.” The documents state that Meredith has admitted to using regular marijuana and has a history of mental illness.

The US Attorney’s Office in Washington, DC has requested that Meredith be detained without bail until he is brought to trial.

Federal prosecutors wrote in the court documents: “There are no conditions or set of conditions that would guarantee the safety of society and its return to court in this jurisdiction.”

Text conversations from Meredith’s phone last week included several threats he made to Pelosi. According to court documents, some of the people who received the texts warned Meredith to be cautious and back off. The documents show that Meredith also sent texts assuming law enforcement officials were monitoring his phone.
